Vashia wasn't a part of the Zendari Song Contest with the nation only declaring interest of entering during the final of the fourth edition by airing the final on a delayed broadcast with a public vote throughout the country to see which song was their favourite for that edition. Song here won the vote in Vashia with a million people tuning into watch Titonüi win the final by only two points. The following two editions saw viewer numbers increase for the contest with Vashia Radio and Broadcasting stating that "they would love to enter the contest, because of the Zendari Broadcasting Association policy of not having an all-in final, we have decided to wait for an opportunity to arise." That opportunity would come on July 1 with ZBA broadcasting that they have invited Vashia into the contest in which they have agreed.
The first entry from Vashia came on July 8, 2018 with the group Within Temptation and Dave Pirner sending the song, Whole World Is Watching. The first song saw some forgiveness with it placing 13th in the second semi final with a 12 pointer coming from the country of Campre. After the disappointment of the result, the broadcaster thought of holding a small national final as at the time Zendarifestivalen 5 had just completed with the result being a 12th place finish in the grand final. With this incorporation, they was hoping that by involving a national final, it would bring success to both Zendarifestivalen and the Zendari Song Contest.
That thought brought up Vashia Selects which saw four entries competing for the two spots in the song contests that was happening at concurrent times. After six jury votes, it was decided to send "Red Flags" by Laura Rizzotto with Eyes Wide Open finishing second. In the second semi-final, they was drawn out to sing first which wouldn't do well for the nation as they finished in 15th place in the semi final to see them not qualifying through to the final.
